Motivation through literature (Jobs and Business Digest)

We have published 3 issues of the Job and Business Digest magazine that has been distributed in community centres, youth hostels, foyers (Focus E15), job centres and libraries to the general public (please find enclosed). Over 10,000 copies have been distributed in Newham, Waltham Forest and Hackney. This project has also enabled us to mentor and support those that would like to move into journalism or the creative industries and more especially demonstrated the potential of generating income for our social objective- employment and training support. We plan to turn the magazine into a social franchise business model that will serve several boroughs in London over the three year period creating employment and diffusing innovation in employment to Londoners.

Background

Since 2000, Clays Lane Trust formally known as Clays Lane Advice & Training Centre (CLATC) has piloted several excellent employment and social enterprise projects effectively and resourcefully in a small housing estate. Based on the economic challenges facing Londoners, we believe that now is the time to scale up our projects for the benefit of the wider community of East London.
